January – busy time for the SGA players round the world
Season 2019 is already well under way. Currently Season Golf Academy players are all around the world practicing, preparing and competing.
Last week our Estonian players Mattias Varjun and Kevin Jegers competed in Spain in Copa Andalusia. Mattias finished 30th with scores of 75,75,75,72, +9 (297) and Kevin 51st with scores of 74, 79, 73,78, +16 (304).
SGA professional golfer Joonas Granberg and young Estonians Markus Varjun and Ralf Kivi also practiced in the area. Assistant coach Niklas Dahlgren spent the past two weeks in Spain with the players.
College player Ilari Saulo is currently in Australia and will play in The Australian Amateur Championship from the 15th to 20th of January. Ilari is looking forward getting back into competitive golf after a long break. He has worked extremely hard to get back after a wrist injury.
SGA European Tour player Kim Koivu is playing in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship from the 16 Jan – 19 Jan 2019. It is the first Rolex Series event of the year and the prize fund is $7,000,000. Head Coach David Da Silva is with Kim in Abu Dhabi. They practiced and prepared during the previous week in Dubai.
Toffe Jusslin is participating in PGA Tour LatinoAmerica Qschool from 29 Jan – 1 Feb 2019 in Buenos Aires, ARG. Toffe is currently practicing and preparing in Miami, FL.
Ladies European Tour player Sanna Nuutinen practiced the first week of 2019 with the Finnish Olympic group in Dubai.
Eetu Isometsä turned professional last week. Eetu will practice in Spain from the 18 January forward and his first events as a professional will be in the Swedish Golf Tour Winter Series at Lumine Golf in Spain, in February.
College players Antti-Jussi Lintunen, Dominic Jones and Rasmus Karlsson returned to the United States after Christmas holidays in Finland. They will continue competing when their spring season starts in February.
Rest of the Academy’s players are in Finland practicing and preparing for the upcoming season in Season Golf.
